The Burner List. Focusing on one task or One Idea.
Just one activity or one thought
Pick one thing you’re going to concentrate on
List the to do’s for that to move it forward over the next few days
Focus on this one thing
This is your front burner.
Your most important idea.
I’ve been working on this method recently, inspired by Jake Knapp and John Zeratsky’s “Make Time”. As a way of focusing, deciding what’s important, and moving forward, Jake uses the idea of cooking. Whatever is on the front burner gets your most attention. There is only space for one pan.
Other pans (tasks or ideas) on back burners may be stirred occasionally and checked, but it is the front burner where the action is.
This has been helping me feel less stressed and overwhelmed because I’m not trying to balance everything getting equal time. It helps to say today is a “chill out day” or clearing up is the focus today, or working on this website.
Further details can be found in the book “Make Time” which I listened to on Scribd, before buying on Kindle as the pictures are simple and fun. They have lots of other great ideas including how to optimise the layout of your phone, and the lure of Infinity Pools. Check them out, and give it a try. Experiment, have fun.
